It confuses me that ADHD (or whatever name comes up next on the euphemism treadmill) is classified as a disability since those of us with the condition see so much value and advantage. I now think that I and my son have a genetic "variation" as does everyone to some extent.

This "variation" is adaptive or we wouldn't be here. Let's hope it's not lost due to those we ADHD having fewer children because it's harder for them to earn a living in this time and place. In our family, the jokes about me were that I am "the absent minded professor." We joke about one of my sons having no sense of time. He is often two or three hours late, if he remembers at all, yet he a a genious about mechanical things and we all rely on him.

I'm guessing the future is going to be even faster paced, and distractability will again be favorable. Humanity wouldn't have gotten this far without the "variation."
