I know deep in my heart that i will always be a rube. I studied cognitive science. I studied what they say about us and our brains and behavior that guides or misguides us. I even got a silly master degree in ed psych so as to be able to teach blind people how to safely navigate an ever changing and perilous world where drivers are texting or otherwise distracted.

Reading Hunter in a Farmer World has turned on some real lights on the topic in my view. Even if I am always going to be an amateur and will never be able to stand in front of a group and sound smart about it.

I think the best way I function or make it work is to trust impulsivity, but never too far. And whenever anyone even comes close to saying I was being efficient, I know they were just trying to get on my good side.

Guesswork. Best guesswork. Try and use it, and reuse it after you test it and then modify it.

I wanted to ask this however... Was there a ADHD email last week on February 12? I didn't happen to find one.

Thanks hunters!

The difference between farmers and hunters was made clear to me a few weeks ago. People from Hawai’i love poi but it isn’t always easy to find on the continent but the taro it is made from is easily found. So I asked AI if I could make poi with a blender (possibly a sacrilegious suggestion 🤗) and found a way to do it. When I told a few friends about it I was surprised to see their faces wrinkle with worry before they started telling me all the reasons it wouldn’t work. Totally opposite from my reaction that it would be fun to explore. I never said it would work. 🤗

That made me recognize the two patterns so clearly - they were looking for guarantees before even considering the idea. We would see the adventure, try it out and make adjustments after that - if it doesn’t work after we test some fixes, we get bored and move on.

They don’t start the project until all possible glitches are planned for - we jump in with a plan and adjust AFTER a problem turns up - and any time in the future we are still ready to adjust for what is happening in the moment.

We would need a lot of training on how to make the systems work together and at this crucial time in politics, it is clear that the traditional politicians are fresh out of ideas.
